Best solution:

Resume the old PvP and PvE servers a minute before the shutdown was announced. That way, everyone that sold their gear and gave away gold would have everything back.

I levelled to 57 on my Hunter before Nost got shut down and I prefer a fresh start side by side with all the new comers, So I'm expecting a new PvP server to roll on. Since Nost will be way more popular than it already was before it shutdown anyway, it'd be dumb if they don't release a new PvP server at least for the incoming army of new players.

Everyone's happy this way.

A new fresh server would please to selfish players (i dont care about other players invested time!), to retarded players (aka "brain-del..." euh "gear-and-gold deleters") and ultimately to new players.

A restored old Nost server would please to previously time invested players, to structured, advanced and established guilds, to those who want to enjoy their gold to help rerolling, to brained players (aka "i dont delete my gear for instant lulz and perma whine") and eventually to new players (more guilding, dungeoning and helping facilities),

There always has to be some sort of argument. The server isn't even confirmed to be coming back yet, so calm down people. It's the freaking apocalypse.

Besides, I'm sure there'll be a vote or Nost will decide what to do with their OWN server.

ill join nostalrius 2 in a hearthbeat (if blizzard dont make a legacy server) even im willing to donate for nostalrius if they need help about new hosting !!!

The massive argument that built the reputation of the server is its huge huge huge population.

I can't imagine Nostalrius to shot himself in the foot by re-opening (if that happens) more servers than there were when the servers shutted down.
