The number of "enter asian country here that uses chinese/mandarin as main language", that actually can comprehend and communicate with the rest of us on the server in English, are few and far inbetween unfortunately.
For my own sake, I have no problem playing on a server with people all over the world, granted that they can actually communicate with eachother. Sadly, this is not the case for a select part of the world.
A prime example would be in the case of PvP, be it between a group of people wanting to hit ranks beyond 11 or in battlegrounds, actually being able to contact and discuss Honor Caps (so people don't have to grind themselves to death for the higher ranks) or how to proceed in a given battleground (most notably Alterac Valley). It is very important that people can exchange information on a basic level, and not through broken Google Translate which noone understands (both ways).
Then we have the big open world, where events/quests that require some form of orginization. Of these, the two that do come to mind, are Benediction and Hunter Bow quests. Being able to talk with and tell people to please stay back/not help to prevent failure and massive respawn timers or bugging out quest mobs, is very important to get these completed without soul destroying frustration.
From personal experience, the Benediction quest was only able to be done by having a few people keeping the "queue" in line. This was done by having characters on both factions, warning/killing the opposing faction if there was refusal to communicate. Even so, the amount of times the quest was interrupted by characters not understanding English (blank text boxes everywhere), was incredibly infuriating to say the least. Each try consumables are running and being used. I am glad I stocked many so I eventually, after many opposing faction kills and control, got the quest done. Also, the risk (if ganking not fast enough) of them accepting and starting the quest ahead of you due to not understanding that there is a queue going, is high.
This last part may sound a bit negative/doomsday-ish, but when the balance tips a bit further (non-English speakers outnumber English speakers), I fear I will not be playing here anymore due to I simply can't be bothered to deal with the lack of communication.
If you read through this, thanks, if not, well, eat a cookie or something.
