No. It's valueless for PvE for a DPS warrior. The only reason it's useful for a retribution paladin in PvE is because of it's speed provides specific bonuses for seal of command; but a retribution paladin who plays at the top of his game will ALWAYS do less damage then a warrior (
with dual wield fury) who is at the top of
his game. (As will most people.)
DPS warriors have to dual wield to get enough rage (because they aren't taking hits) to do good damage.
If you were wielding a hand of rag, you'd be rage-starved the entire fight, and a Ret Paladin with The Unstoppable Force would out-DPS you.
If your raid -uses- ret paladins for PvE.. Hand of Rag is a "Paladin" weapon; but it doesn't justify the -cost- for the DPS increase on one person.. which is why it's typically it's not issued on a DKP basis, but rather: "Who is more likely to crack faces open in PvP, to make our guild look awesome?"
It's a PvP weapon, through and through -- and in PvP, a ret paladin will do more damage with it.
Would I begrudge a warrior it? Probably.
Ashkandi (Also exclusively a PvP weapon, not a PvE weapon -- except it *IS* good as a stat-stick for hunters. And I've seen (Grand Marshal) Funeral almost one-shot a mage with Raptor-strike; which is funny.) is superior damage for a warrior, and easier to get. Get a Hand of Justice, and Sword Specialization, can you can (pretty frequently) one or two-shot people in the middle of a crowd with Recklessness + Sweeping Strikes + whirlwind = Mage, and Priest Dead, Shaman at 10% health.
You won't get that kind of power from Hand of Rag. Sword Spec, hands down,
is king indisputably.
A guy on my server had both Might of Menithil (A mace, and the Highest DPS weapon in all of Vanilla WoW, drops off Kel'Thuzad) and had Corrupted Ashbringer (lower DPS, but a sword). He prefered Ashbringer for reasons that should be obvious:
Sword Specialization extra attacks can
crit, and the additional attack is not normalized.
Talk to Grand Marshal Monkey News: He'll tell you all about the difference between
the Grand Marshal's Claymore and
The Grand Marshal's Warhammer. Without even knowing him personally? I assure you he'll tell you the exact same thing -- and he PvP's
like a mad-man.
PvE DPS warriors dual-wield one-handers.
'Slam Spec' 2-handed Fury or worse 'Mortal Strike' DPSers (and even Retribution Paladins themselves Hand of Rag or not) are a joke by comparison.
Fury Warriors are simply the baddest ass and most unstoppable PvE DPS class in the entire game when played
well. Get an Edgemaster's Handguards (doesn't effect two-handers for obvious reason) -- and take everyone to school.
But if you want to one-shot people with Mortal Strike?
Swords are where you go.Warriors don't have spell-damage for the Hand of Rag proc. Their instant attacks cause the same damage regardless of weapon speed.. and a paladins, instead, do more with Hand of Rag.
To me? Giving it to a warrior is the equivalent of giving a paladin Thunderfury. Yeah. He may use it..
but it's not in the hands where the weapon does everything it can do.. like an
Ashkandi on the back of a Hunter.
If nobody needs the Ashkandi because your guild has 12? Sure. But Dawns Edge x2 with agility enchants is about as good.
Ashkandi needs to be slapping people in the face to be everything it can be.
