Nostalrius Begins - Quality wow vanilla realm (1.12)

I think for what I want to do I like being a dps caster and either Mage or Warlock seem like the best bets, but the question is which one? Apart from the difference in playstyle being Mage being a full-fledged spell caster and Warlock being a slow and painful damage-over-time debuffer, here are what I consider to be the pros and cons between the two.

Mage
+ Can conjurer food and drinks
+ Self Teleport to cities and make portals for others
+ Excellent crowd control (Polymorth, Frost Nova)
+ Frost spells to slow down or Frostbite freeze things in place when it procs.

- Very fragile, you have to put up Ice Barrier if you know your going to get hit but if you don't like being jumped by a Rogue then your screwed.
- Use of Frost Nova requires practice, I have used it before in PvP and used the spell too early, sending me to the grave.

Warlock
+ Can summon Demons and with the Voidwalker they have a much better and easier solo experience.
+ Can apply a Soul Stone to self-resurrect themselves or others.
+ Can soak up more hits than a Mage can with more Stamina.

Can't really think of negatives about Warlocks at the moment, maybe someone could refresh my memory.

Holy priest

You can't dps with a Holy Priest.

PvP or PvE? The classes play completely different depending on what your focus is.

For PvP.

How am I trolling? Spellstopcasting macro will bait pretty much every mage counterspell, heal and mana burn him to death.

Well, I am biased towards Warlock, so I would recommend that class.

The pet micro management is not for everyone though.

I also think you are wrong about the survivability of the classes, it's not that simple and not really about the health pools either. Mages have supreme survivability against melee classes and Warlocks are great against every caster bar Shadow Priests, but are kinda weak against melee classes. Particularly in a group setting or if Alliance against Forsaken.
