Questions & Hype

by Leadsx » Sun Feb 22, 2015 4:54 pm

So after a lot of browsing I decided I`ll play on Nostalrius on launch and hope for the best with that being said I wanted to stream hopefully but I have 0 experience in how streaming goes.

I don`t think I`ll have many problems since WoW Vanila doesn't require you to have to strong of pc so that`s why I hoped I could possibly stream

This is my internet connection

http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/4162723888

Most of the times it goes 12 down and 9 up.

and my pc settings are as follows

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650
Intel(R) Core(TM) i3 CPU M380 @ 2.53GHZ
Intel(R) Core(TM) i3 CPU M380 @ 2.53GHZ
Intel(R) Core(TM) i3 CPU M380 @ 2.53GHZ
Intel(R) Core(TM) i3 CPU M380 @ 2.53GHZ
2GB Ram
500 HDD

I`m not some tech-savvy guys when it comes to hardware so my question is

Would I be able to stream ?

Why don't you boot up the client and log into one of the plethora of other servers out there and try? Of course you'll be able to stream, but if it's smooth enough for you is subjective.

I'm pretty experienced with streaming on OBS. So update this thread when you've tried it out, tell me what program you're using and if you can, show me the test footage.
If I can be bothered and stop being so busy these next few days, I can help you and I'll be honest and give a reasonable estimation of what sort of resolution, quality and frames you would be able to stream at with your setup.

So finished testing and the best results I got are with this (as some people I asked to check it out)

Encoding

USE CBR (Yes)
Max Bitrate (500-600)

Video

Custom 1280x720

Resolution Downscale (1024x576)
Filter Bilnear(Fastest)
FPS 30

and no Idon`t have any test footage but add me on skype and we can arrange a test perhaps.

I`ll try to do a 48 hour stream so hopefully everything turns out okay.

Planning to stock on cigarettes / drinks and food.

Just try streaming on Twitch, and then link the past broadcast. It will tell whether the stream is watchable or not, whether it be dropped frames, or just too blurry to be watchable. (your bitrate f.ex. is really low/bad).

In the meanwhile - Watch all of this (mandatory): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0xCl1BD88fw

This video tells you pretty much everything you need to know about OBS, Streaming, Bitrates (UL and DL), Settings, Twitch streaming mechanics and settings, etc, etc...
Yes the version of OBS that he's using in that video is a bit outdated, but everything still applies. This video tells you almost everything you'd need to know as far as basics go.

Bare in mind that I don`t have the strongest of computers or the ideal 100down/100 upload internet connection.

I think for leveling should be fine ?
