I think it's systemic. it's not only blizzard. I've had the misfortune of clicking some videos by WoW youtubers that do 'sketches'. Recently ran into a girl called 'Nora Sunstrider'. The video was the most unfunny thing I've seen in quite a whie.

Humour seems to be sheer idiocracy. Just memes and make fart noises with your mouth.

Right? why the hell is memeing a thing in professional settings now? I see so much game companies participating in the community's memes, it just looks bad. The company itself is supposed to act like a "leader" or "adult" not step down to the level of a child. Not to mention the writing and humor is just so bad, like highschool or even middleschool type writing. Fuckn modern SJW brain disease....

I think theres one main factor in this type of trend.... the main thing is it lacks originality.....they appease to the herd mind, sheep mind....

I always saw those April fools jokes as a test reaction to see how the community would like it... there has been a couple of these jokes that they have implemented, Pandas *Cough* *Cough*. with that said, these jokes have grown kind of boring, but so have the Budweiser super bowl commercials.
