Where are Nostalrius players now?

by Greenbeing » Fri Apr 15, 2016 2:09 pm

Hey guys!
I was wondering if majority of players have moved in to some other vanilla server (or just spread around), or if there are any plans to resurrect this old player community some how in near future. I'd like to join in some 1.12 server again.

(oh, and btw. I did just quit paying for retail, because this thing rly pissed me off, and I wont never pay for retail again for sure)

Crestfall is coming out soon, that's what im waiting for. It will be as good as Nostalrius.

Can't stand playing on some shitty realm run by 15 year olds.

Most have gone to Kronos, there are also some on Rebirth, and then there are those of us who want to play on a fresh start server when one starts - the most promising one right now seems to be Crestfall.

I don't know about resurrecting the community, but if enough of us Nost people gather at Crestfall, it will be some kind of a resurrection, I think.

Well, what make you think they are good? Even their web does not work. Any info about the team etc?

I thought not having a website looks a little shady too, however, they did an AMA type post the other day.

Have a read, It's the closest I've seen to blizzlike so far. Most of all, the staff seem mature and it looks promising.

(im quoting one of the devs here and there in this reply)
Almost every other vanilla wow server use Mangos (Kronos did, Nostalrius did, Peenix did), the things that most servers can't fix are MaNGOS issues and limitations. Without massively changing their emulator, they can't fix them, and many devs simply don't have the expertise to do it. Or they can't risk bringing down a server that's been live for years in the attempt. There isn't much that can't be fixed if you step outside the MaNGOS box.

Crestfall on the other hand uses their own core which is based on a Summit and Trinitycore hybrid, meaning it has next to nothing to do with MaNGOS. That's how they avoid the MaNGOS stock bugs, and that's how they go from Vanilla to TBC to Wrath and beyond. The support for things like phasing and that is already present in the core.

This step away from Mangos should be enough to be jaw-dropping. But here you have some youtube videos of some of their fixes. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCDU8Eo ... mMacE5BR9Q
