Is Nostalrius For Me?

by BigMouth » Fri Nov 06, 2015 9:39 pm

Hi. I'm hoping to get some feedback on whether the Nostalrius server is for me. I have played WoW off and on since sometime in 2005. In fact, I created my first toon around the time of the corrupted blood incident (I was so confused). I thought WoW was this incredibly immersive world with tons of other players and I truly enjoyed the leveling experience. I just kept creating new toons to see what the different classes were like. I ran the 5-person dungeons but never raided. Once I was in a guild with the nicest people and just had fun chatting with them. I didn't care what we did and I was pretty open to trying anything with them because they were so much fun.

I played for a while but at the time I was a new associate at a big law firm and I didn't have much time to play. Each time I stopped playing I would come back with a new expansion and play for a while. Mostly leveling alts and doing the 5-person dungeons, maybe a very little pvp. Very casual. The draw for me was the expansive and diverse online world that Blizzard had created and having loads of other people around, even while leveling. Most recently I came back from the WoD expansion. I played for just a week or so, got my garrison in the process and have not been back since then. For me it was just not fun to be holed up in my garrison (I'm not criticizing, just saying it was not for me). When I visited Orgrimmar and Undercity they were like ghost towns.

I recently read an article about vanilla WoW on this server and particularly that the PvE server is new. I would love a chance to play WoW again and level some classes, do the 5-person dungeons, and I've always thought it would be fun to try raiding. But I don't want to level and have no one near me or go to the major cities and be one of only a handful of people. What is the experience of playing on PvE (don't want to deal with being ganked) server like and does it seem like what I am looking for? Thanks for any responses!

The server is WoW almost exactly like it was in 2005. The class mechanics are all late game (patch 1.12.x) and there are some bugs here and there, but in general you couldn't get closer unless you had a time machine.

So far on the PVE realm I've noticed many friendly people, not too many jerks/trolls. People say thanks when you buff them, or buff you in return. I was fighting a mob near a chest and a guy actually walked by without stealing it!!!

If you enjoyed the world and the community aspect of WoW, you should do fine here.

you mentioned that you don't wanna level and than have none around you...

I dare you to log in at time when PvP realm has less than 4k people online :)
There is someone near you almost ever damn second. Finding a moment of "privacy" here I privilege ;)

If you pick PvE, that might be different. It has lower population. For true experience of lore and this game in general I suggest you play on PvP realm. Open world pvp is amazing ;)
