Hunter Spec - PVP/PVE ?

Hunter Spec - PVP/PVE ?

by auburntig3r » Sun Mar 27, 2016 10:18 pm

Hey guys!

So I currently have a 60 hunter and have been doing a lot of research of what spec would be ideal for high dps/quick killing in PVP and keeping up with PVE within instances and raids. Ive noticed that it's really hard to get a perfect balance but wanted to get some ideas from you guys. This is something I kinda came up with that is mainly PVP but would do decent within instances. Also is ImpAoH really worth anything? had friends convince me it is not. Also same with parrying. I did put one in Deterrence, but general parry (for a hunter) I have my doubts. Any feedback pos or neg would be appreciated!! Thanks.

PS: If anyone knows anything on the slaying talents if they work or not that would be great too! Saw rumors that they under-preform.

You don't play hunter for high dps/killing in PvP or keeping up with anyone in PvE, not in vanilla WoW. That said, there is also no spec that suits both PvP and PvE and you should get your priority or respec for each. IAoH is godlike for PvE and 5/5 must, so go with 20/31/0 for that (if you dont need point in Surefooted for hitcap that is). For PvE I believe you need Entrapment more than Survivalist, slaying talents are not worth it, Trap Mastery is very nice, no reason not to go ICS 5/5.

Hi Auburntig3r,

1. Here is a first talent build for fresh level 60 (Dungeon and Raid)
http://db.vanillagaming.org/?talent#cbZViohthtI0mV0h

Please, note that some variations can be made to the survival part. Regarding the survivalist points, I always put 5 points on it. The longer you stay in a fight, the more dps output you have for a difficult boss (someone dead won't dps at all, right?)

2. Once you are "hit capped" which I believed is 9% (PvE content, PvP would be 4-5%) you can go for more dps output like
http://db.vanillagaming.org/?talent#ci0h0xxZViohtht.

3. If you ever reach over 450 agility with your gear, here is a talent tree that works for both PvP and PvE with good damage output. The main thing is just reaching the 5 point in Lightning Reflexes, you can choose where to put the points in the middle of the tree.

Those specs work for PvP but might be more focus on PvE content. If you really want to have a PvP build, the trees don't have to change that much, you can try to get improved concussive shot, entrapment etc for more controls and remove some points you feel are not needed :)
Try to run some tests, to see how you feel/like it

Hope this helps a little.
