And why would melee stance dance? If you're going to FW them you may as well dispel them instead. Tank gets FW or stance dances to keep the boss in place, not because fear is particularly bad.

^ pretty much that. You're still going to have to deal with melee getting feared, even if you stack fear ward, and it's not a condition that's going to wipe the raid, or even necessarily cause deaths unless someone gets unlucky.

You get some significant benefits from the main tank not having to stance dance, but a lack of Fear Ward is not an insurmountable obstacle.
