Chosing the race, it is so important?

I would like to create a Mage in Alliance in order to do PvP. The point is, I read that if I chose Mage in Alliance I must go with the Gnome because of the racials. Btw, I do not like the aspect of that race, I do not why, just prefer to chose human.
It is so relevant the racials in the case of Alliance Mage for PvP

Human Mage is fine. Just don't pick female, as it gives +10 Neckbeard points.

Now seriously, is so big the difference in PvP between human and gnome. Why there are people who give them so much importance?

Choosing a race is only important for a couple of classes. For mages there's not real huge difference, so it's not important. If we were talking rogues (human OP), priests (dwarf OP) it would be a different story.

But, if Am I correct, the gnome has more intellect right? And arkane bonus resistance. I though this spec is very useful por a mage.

as a paladin, I frequently get blinded by rogues. Being a dorf is wonderful because using stoneform takes me out of blind. Some classes, its worth being a specific race.

Yeah but Im talking about Mage not Paladin.

I mean, 5% int is fine, escape artist is pretty darn good for pvp, but its not beyond amazing compared to human. If you want to min/max then yes gnome is the choice, but its not so big a difference.

The difference here is nowhere near comparable to how game breaking the UD vs troll choice is.
5% int = 0.5% crit though. Stronk in PvE
