The issue with your line of thinking is that it will, inevitably, evolve overtime to people being muted, banned, censored simply because a GM was pissed off, having a bad day, etc and the wrong person and the wrong time made a comment or comments taken in the wrong way and boom, they're punished without just cause. Before you know it you turn in to ED and simply mentioning something contrary to the ruling authorities belief will get you a ban. So unless you are in with the ruling party, you might just want some time of guiding principle to govern rather than the current "flexible" rules.

PS. A server is nothing without the population. Piss off the population the way that those in power often do and that population leaves at the first available opportunity. Thats why this server exploded in the beginning, and ED died.

There are rules established. That's why he/she un-muted the player after a couple of hours. 3 hours is for the first offense. So therefore, the punishment fits the crime.

While nobody likes spammers, and we appreciate them being dealt with, it seems a bit tyrannical to just throw a random number out because you were busy. Rules should be well established with what constitutes spam and other offenses with degrees of punishments. Unless of course the managers of this server prefer a wild wild west style of order, in which case, let the games begin.

He does things in a very poorly manner. Like letting you go and giving you a warning but then still chat banning you after he checks the guild chat for something said about him which is not only a breach of privacy but also completely irrelevant to the investigation.

Sorry to necro but i hardly ever visit forums unless server down or bored af.

Anyways, as a last comment to my own post i need to say a few things. Yes spamming and being a general jackass is usually frowned upon. We all have are moments though and i'm no saint. Since the chat ban has lifted i have yet to spam in anyway shape or form including emote spamming. So to be a little hasty in a punishment just because you simply feel the need not to do your job correctly is not a viable solution to keep the server in order. Even after this power abusing i have not commited another bannable offense in the game. So yes even a little warning before a mute or ban is usually what works best because people get the message and if they continue to be an ass and spam, con/scam, gold sell, ect. then they definitely deserve a harsh punishment.

I'm not saying what i did was right. However the handling and execution of my case was handled very poorly.

Considering he fixed it well within the normal time limit, I hardly find this as an issue.

People who sell gold and scam should be banned with no warning. They know that all servers disallow either, and yet they still do it.

Spamming? People who do it are still stupid, but at least they arent harming the server community like the scammers or gold buyers/sellers. Yes, a warning should be given before a ban.

Stop being contrarian and combative just for the sake of it. The ban was lifted after the normally allotted period, shut up.

Break rules? Get punished. Simple as that. Don't like it? Leave. Fussing about it will only make you look hysterical, ignorant, and not a 'special snowflake' you wish to be.

Obey the rules.

No.
Some spam, we warn. Excessive spam, we mute. Your case was handled in accordance to the ToU at the time, there was no abuse nor did I perform my duties incorrectly. You got a three hour mute, that's hardly a harsh punishment considering it can go up to 24 hours.
