Well, looks like the lag's gone for now. Been on for a minute and no huge latency or lag spikes.

I live in Trinidad (caribbean) ...im sure theres no problems with the servers and i fully agree that its a problem with my isp connecting to u guys ..but they cant seem to see a problem cuz everything digitally shows up fine lol =( and i even see it myself. monday - thursday i cant play from 6pm-6am ..and on friday i cant play from 6pm-12pm , weekends are flawless ......this makes no sense =( i cant explain it.

PS , just to respond to people saying "its cuz youre connecting from the caribbean" .... that cant be the reason because i have people in the same country on the same ISP playing on the same server without this issue.

You are confusing latency and bandwidth. Bandwidth is the upload/download rate you were talking about. Latency is the time it takes for a packet to travel from the source to the destination and has very little to do with upload/download rates.

Is the server peak time the same as the time people tend to get off work in your time zone? If so, your neighbors may be using a lot of bandwidth and slowing down your connection in the process.

You don't have a dedicated line to the internet. The ISP has a line to your neighborhood. This point of termination is a "node". It has a certain amount of bandwidth it can carry. This bandwidth is distributed to all the internet clients in the neighborhood (or that area of the neighborhood). If your neighbors are using too much, you get throttled too (in latency too, not just bandwidth).

This happens to me frequently in my neighborhood on weekdays after work hours and on the weekends. That's when people are home downloading porn.

To check if you have packet loss just run command prompt during the lags and ping google since its the most stabile server out there and its always up so you'll know. Start --> Run --> type CMD --> ping www . google . com -t. Without the spaces in the adress name (had to pit it this way cozforum adds https:// in front if I type the adress normally) between fullstops. What you shouldnt see there is higher ping than 20-50 and time outs. If you have time outs means you have packetloss causing the lag.

It's not our bandwith, literally everything else works just fine, websites load just fine, i can play on other private servers with normal 100 ms latency, even this website loads just fine, it's just on Nost that I'm getting huge issues.

Do a traceroute to login2.nostalrius.org to figure out where the congestion might be.

Aight, thanks, I'll try it out once the lag is back, since right now it's fine.

Well, lag's back, did the traceroute thing, this is the result. http://i.imgur.com/MYX3WWM.png

The lag seems to be appearing and going away randomly now, instead of only after a specific hour.
