Last night I was going to queue for Warsong and I went to swap from my dead pet cat (died earlier from horde chasing me through Blackrock) to my wind serpent. The pet swap completed, but I didn't see my cat in the stables, all I saw was a blank spot. I restabled the wind serpent and the cat was still unable to be called. Logged in and out hoping for a simple solution. Nothing. Gone. Very frustrated because I don't want to have to level another cat. Hopefully this will be a warning and lesson learned to other hunters to not be lazy and rez your pets before stabling. I assume this isn't working as intended.
Edit. I was somehow insanely lucky enough to tame another Humar this morning without having to camp the spawn so maybe a GM can just insta-level it to 54?
