Excessive landscape 'extrusion' / tearing

Hi everyone,

I have the following graphics issue which I don't seem to be able to solve myself. The world is littered with weird 'extrusions' of the surroundings, looks like excessive tearing. See attachment for an example screenshot. I've tried altering all video settings one by one and have implemented the Optimized settings given in this forum, but nothing seems to help.

My system:

AMD FX-7500
8 GB RAM
Radeon R7 M260DX

If anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated. Everything runs very smoothly except for this annoying visual problem.

Thanks,

Furion

Have you tried clearing your game cache?

In the location where you installed the World of Warcraft Classic folder, there are two folders labeled "WDB" and "WTF." Delete both of these folders and see if it helps any.

If not, it could be broken or corrupt files in your WoW installation (Though I would imagine that would cause a WoW.exe crash instead). You can try uninstalling and reinstalling the game client.

Thanks AverageJoe, I will try that as soon as I get to my laptop today.

In case that doesn't work though, there's two more things:

  • I only have this problem while playing on my laptop. My PC has Intel processor and an Nvidia card, so could this be an AMD / Radeon issue? Google tells me Vanilla WoW and AMD have weird incompatibilities sometimes.
  • I was running SM and RFD yesterday, and the issue didn't occur there. So it seems to be only in the 'big world'.

I've tried both, but it hasn't helped so far.. Any more suggestions?

Maybe make sure all your graphics card drivers are up to date? Beyond that I'm not sure.

It was indeed just a matter of updating drivers, thanks Joe!

Since it's a brand new laptop I assumed the drivers would be up to date, but alas they weren't.

Problem solved :)
