I've also been accused of buying gold. I made a forum post about this to get it resolved, but I haven't gotten a reply yet.
Good luck to the both of us.

Then probably your friend bought the gold.
As far I know all characters in the chain gets banned, so if your friend bought gold and gave it to you, you get banned as well.

I've been farming ore and skinning all of my kills. I put all of the materials up on the auction house as well as any BoE items I can find. Is it possible that the gold from other players triggered this reaction that you're talking about? How does specific gold get tagged as "bought" in the first place?

I don't know how they track the gold streams, and I doubt you will get an usefull answer from GM's, since this could indeed help gold sellers to hide transactions.
But I do see a difference from trading gold directly (mail or "open trade") and selling items on AH, although both methods would be usefull for trading gold as well. It should be easy for a GM to see if you sold linen cloth for 100g per stack or actually sold farmed items for realistic prices.

Yeah I can see how that would be. Oh well. I guess I can make a new account while I wait for a reply and try not to get my hopes up.
Thanks for your responses.
Sorry to take control of your thread, OP.
