Nostalrius Begins - Quality wow vanilla realm (1.12)

So my brother just started playing his rogue, youngog, and when he moved his laptop downstairs he all of a sudden couldn't use any of the chats. He couldn't /join 1, couldn't talk in guild chats or party's, nothing. His whole chat moved to the right lower side of the screen and that is super odd. Has anybody else ever had this problem? It's been a couple days and its really getting annoying for him since he cant LFG's and all of that since nobody can see his chat, it doesn't even come up when he types and presses enter.

He disabled any addons he used and it still doesn't work, he tried logging off and back in. I've had it where I can't get into general chat but it goes away. This seems different, like maybe he got muted from the admins or something? Idk just curious as to see what happened and what solutions there are.
