What's up with the lag?

So as all of us have noticed, recently the lag is worse than usual. This is curious as nostalrius have dropped a lot of players lately (used to be 15k+ peak-time now I never see more than 12k). Usually its 10-11k people online during peak. People leave because nothing is done about the mafia etc, and I can't blame them. Language barrier is unbearable, especially in PvP.
But why did the lag increase when the population decreased? And are you going to fix this any time soon?

Population has never been close to 15k and has been pretty steady lately actually (at least on the PvP server, PvE server is growing).

Never been close to 15? Lol I guess you guys never did a /who around peak time. 14500 isn't that close? And I am sure I've seen over 15k as well. Got guildies backing me up on this as well. And a GM would be able to confirm this with ease.

I agree, the lag is getting worse. At first I thought it was my internet connection, but when I logged onto retail it runs perfect. It is slowly getting worse & now sometimes when I charge on my warrior, I instant disconnect /:

Have you clicked the link I posted? It tracks the numbers from the nostalrius website every 15 minutes.
