Question - why are people always using backpedaler as a word for bad PVPers? I PvPd pre BC all the time and don't remember hearing that in use.

I also don't back pedal because strafing is faster - is that why?

Most people where bad back then and didn't knew what was good or bad that's why you didn't knew it. All of us who played from vanilla backpedalled for some months until we understood that it was bad via experience or someone explaining it to us.

Mainly yes. The fact that you run with 50% speed is enough to make it bad but there are also many minor factors of response and action.
