Ivkuang, is english being taught in chinese schools at a younger age? I can imagine it has to do with your social class (or status if you will), but are you able to give a brief description how the education system works in China? I am really curious as you're one of the first people I see typing fluid english. That being said I don't interact with a lot of chinese people, at all.
now that question deserves its own thread. but i enjoy this kind of questions, it bring us closer. #nohomo
english education in china is completely fucked up, they dont teach you anything useful. english is on our curriculum starting grade 7 so any university undergrads would have studied english for 10 years but only very few of them can speak english effectively, because the education system is heavily built for exams and exams only. so all they teach you in school is grammar, but not how to speak it for daily use. the only way to properly learn english would be on your own, through private classes. this is not a social class thing like in india, its merely if you are willing to spend the extra time to learn it.
now the reason why people on this server dont speak english is because most people will never have the chance of using what they have learned after school. its like for americans most of them took french classes in school but because they never use it, 99% of the population would not know any french words other than bonjour.
there is some HUGE misunderstanding between the western community and the chinese community because of the language barriers. but what we need to realize is that this does happen with teh russian communities (counter strike) as well as the south american communities (dota). im not asking everyone to understand the reasoning but for those who are more educated, not all chinese are gold farmers. we are just normal people like everyone of you, but with slighted slanted eyes.
