Mage and Rogue are overall the strongest classes in solo PvP IMO. Both are easy to be "good" at but also have a very high skill ceiling. Also both can be very effective in PvP even with limited gear (r10 and/or dungeon gear). They rely heavily on cooldowns, control, and burst damage. Also the 2 classes that Engineering is the most OP on.
Hunter and Warlock are also very strong in general, but require a bit more gear to be able to hold your own. Both have a derp spec (BM/Afflic) but also have specs that give a high skill ceiling and are incredibly effective when played by someone that knows what they are doing.
All 4 of these classes (Mage, Hunter, Lock, Rogue) are capable of changing a BG or winning 1vX situations if geared well and played right.
Warriors are the most deadly class in PvP IF they are well geared and have solid healers/dispellers behind them. However they can be incredibly frustrating to play in solo PvP, and also very frustrating to play with average/bad gear. I wouldn't recommend choosing a Warrior for PvP unless you are rolling with a group of players and you're "the" Warrior. All of that being said, Engineering and Consumables can always give a well geared/played Warrior the ability to be effective solo, but the class in its raw form is designed to be played with support, period (lol shit r14 war cant win without healerz!!!!!!11)
Shamans and Paladins are both OP as support classes, especially in WSG. You're pretty much forced into a healing/dispelling role if you want to play either of these classes, although Shamans have a really fun Ele/Resto hybrid spec that is effective as a healer but also has huge burst potential. That requires a certain set of gear to be effective though.
Priests are the best overall PvP healers IMO. They can dispel offensively and defensively, they have tons of effective instant casts, and their Fear is one of the most OP peels in the game. As for Shadow Priests, they are incredibly OP if well geared and played by someone that knows what they're doing, but the spec requires a good bit of gear to be effective and you spend a lot of time outside of shadow form healing and shielding (so pls just go heals). Geared Spriest does poop on most classes in duels though, IMO.
Druids are in a class of their own when it comes to FCing in WSG, and they can be good for defending a flag in AB, but aren't very useful otherwise. They can't really kill anything geared 1v1 unless its a poor player, and they are the worst healers in team fights out of Druid/Shaman/Priest/Paladin.
hope that helps
