Ranking system

last week me and my friend was the same rank, rank 2, with 40% in on rank 2 (60% left to rank3).

Last week i obtained a total of 29k-30k honor. my friend obtained 10-11k honor. After todays maintenance I went from 40% over rank 2 to about 60-70% over rank 3.
my friend on the other hand, with 10k honor gained, went to 50% over rank 3.
A 10-20% difference although i obtained 3 times his honor. We're both lvl 39-ish.

I'm wondering if anyone knows why we gained almost the same amount of rank % when i obtained 3x more honor?

Level by the maintenance today was for me 39 and my friend was 41. Standing 1838 for me. 3031 for my friend.
