I was kinda hoping this could be a thread where more experienced players shared their knowledge of grinding and inconvential questing (on an abstract level ofc not giving away their personal grindspots). Keep it at that, we don't need another balance-thread.

When I levelled my dwarf priest to 60 (completed some weeks ago), I used the following tactics.

1. I hate grinding. The only time I did that was in the quest gap between about 45 and 50. Once you hit 50, you should not need to grind at all (and I had quests right up to 60, but I made sure to do all the quests I could find.)

2. When fighting a mob, make sure to stand somewhere out of sight and drag the mob to you. Stand behind a tree, or behind a rock, or in a crevice. Always pay attention to your surroundings, and whether you are visible or not.

3. Never ride on roads. Always ride alongside the road maybe about 10 meters off it. This gives you a small sliver of a chance to avoid someone camping on the road.

4. Don't go to places the usual way. When I take my priest to MC, I fly to Thelsamar, head through the tunnel to Searing Gorge, then ride up that lava trail to just in front of Blackrock Mountain (not along the main entrance path). I think i've only been attacked once doing that. Avoid Thorium Point, Morgan's Vigil, and also Chillwind Camp. So (for example) when I buy those juicy Enriched Mana Biscuits from the AD, I actually fly to LHC, not Chillwind.

5. Always, always always be aware of your surroundings. Turn the camera around to watch behind you while fighting a mob, as most attackers will come from behind. Look for that red name tag coming toward you. Knowing that you are about to be attacked can save your life. Constantly check for threats, looking over your shoulder.

6. Choose mobs to kill that are farther away from the middle of the section, or take longer to get to. E.g. in burning steps, don't kill the Orcs near the road, kill the ones out at the edges, far from the road. Take advantage of the lowered visibility distance this server has (20 yards). If someone is riding by on a road and they can see you , they can attack you.

7. Recover after fighting a mob as quickly as possible. Use high level bandages rather than eating. Keep a good supply of health pots and/or mana pots. Think of levelling like doing a raid - bring consumables.

I'm currently levelling my 2nd char, 54 about to hit 55 - a rogue. Granted rogues are much easier to level in this regard, but I still have to be careful when fighting something and keep my wits about me.

So TLDR: Be mindful of your surroundings and keep your wits about you.
The pizza level in my bloodstream is dangerously low.

Just wanted add that making some friends your level to quest with is a good idea also. Most horde I have encountered are too gutless to fight you 1 v1 they usally 5v1 etc so if you are in a group they are less likey to attack.

I can say the same for ally, I doubt ally gets ganked as much as horde since it seems all ally do is spend most of their time forming ganking squad and literally spending all day ganking then run to the forums and cry for more people to roll ally since they are "supposedly" to few in numbers.

Everyone gets ganked and they should, it's part of the game. That being said, if you can't offer tips and advice on avoiding ganks and leveling then refrain from whining. That goes for everyone else too :)
