I've been told the only way to make that r14 push is to "nolife" it. Not sure if this is an over exaggerated statement or not. I was hoping someone could clarify that. Or better yet answer this:
Can someone who works a full 40 a week + required to attend raids+worldbosses ever dream of getting r14 gear by themselves?
Cer, I work ~45-50 hours a week and raid in two different guilds on separate nights and sleep about 4-5 hours a night. I think my situation is pretty close to what yours is. I will probably be standing 10 this week in honor(around 400K). On the PVE server (Horde) right now, there are multiple players pushing for rank 13 but none that I am aware of pushing rank 14. As it stands, there are too many players pushing rank 13 for me to progress past rank 11 with my work schedule.
On the PVE server right now to get rank 14 you MUST be the #1 standing four weeks in a row while at Rank 13, or you will be reset and have to start over your four consecutive weeks. There is not enough active PVPers on Horde for more than one Rank 14 at a time (if there is even enough people PVPing for one).
In the current status of Horde PVP, I personally cannot physically get rank 14 with my work schedule and raiding in two separate guilds. There's too many other active PVP players that are getting higher standings than myself (Harash, Pivko, Okeah, Dreadful, Fexius to name a few). When/if they finish their grind, perhaps then I can get Rank 14 with the same schedule, but I doubt it since they will always be new players coming up to start their grind as well that will have more time to commit to it. The only way I see myself getting rank 14 is to take 1-2 months of work for the final push.
One thing that you could do is get up to Rank 11, and then once you get there stop raiding until you've completed your grind. This will help tremendously with honor because you will probably be getting honor the other top PVPers are missing out on. This is what Ccmemrstpfk is doing on Alliance now. Talk with Deja Vu, I'm assuming they will allow you to pause your PVE raiding while you push for rank 14 since the rank 14 gear is (or close to) BIS for warriors for PVE. You basically wouldn't need much out of BWL if you hit rank 14 since you will be the most damage overall anyway, which allows loot to go toward other members of the raid increasing the overall raid strength.
