Which class holds their own with less than perfect gear?

I'd say hunter is good no matter what, viper sting doesn't scale with gear anyway and is one of the most powerful abilities in pvp, on top of this you can kite/cc very well and are hard to kill if you know what you're doing. With gear a hunter becomes also really tanky and does strong dps.

Hunters are pretty strong, just make sure you do it on alliance

We see videos of warriors destroying everyone and think they are a great classe, but war is only great with amazing gear+pocket healers, for the average player with bad gear, playing on pugs with no healers they freaking sucks

Gear isn't enough. You need heals and dispels. Warrior should be a pet class. Pet Paladin in T2 following you around imo.

I essentially can help a lot eating dmg by charging/intimidate/shield wall like a turtle hunter pet with Shell Defense and silencing+short stunning, felhunter+intimidate shenanigans.

Many of the rogue's abilities have very high base damage, such as eviscerate, so they can hold their own well w/o gear..
