When I used to play AV I won 82% of them. I was in the lead often.. ^^

You could go to WPL and farm the level 55s Chinese mages at Dawson's Tears and if you were alone and killed 12-15 an hour you'd get still more honor/hour than losing an AV in the same time. Just saying.

Av is so slanted in the alliance's favor. I'm surprised that even a decade after the release of Alterac Valley we're still arguing over it.

Their entire side of the map bottle necks you into small areas that are easily manageable and allow their ranged classes to fire away without fear of being attacked back. Not to mention that their archers actually defend their flag and are consistently shooting.

After you get passed the stonehearth bunker bottleneck,you can pick one of 2 roads with limited movement and ever respawning npc patrols. If you make it all the way to stormpike graveyard and manage to take it,then you're left with the bridge. The bridge is the single easiest part of Alterac Valley to defend. A single mage with improved Blizzard has such a massive effect on the entire horde side. And while you're fighting the alliance on the bridge,their archers are merrily spamming you with arrows from the safety of their unreachable bunkers. Meanwhile,blizzard designed stormpike graveyard to be easily harassable by giving it cliffs that allow alliance to shoot at you when you spawn. And if you somehow manage to get inside the alliance base,you have both bunkers shooting at you and their tightly packed npcs aggroing like crazy while the few advantaged defenders have an easy time of picking you off.

I mean honestly. I played probably my 6th game of Alterac Valley,I don't see why alliance are so bothered by the back door. It's so easy to defend against. I saw about 10 horde stopped dead in their tracks by like 3 alliance.

Compare that to the horde side. There's 2 bottlenecks on the entire horde side of the map. Iceblood graveyard and the small ramp in the Frostwolf base(And even then that area has poor line of sight) leading to the base of the 2 towers. So once you break through Iceblood and take tower point,you're home free. The land is wide open and the npcs far and few. There are no cliffs to limit your range or allow the horde to shoot at you with impunity,and there isn't some gaping chasm that stops you from entering their base. In fact all you do to get inside the horde base is hop the wall(or ride right in),ride behind the huts,kill 1 or 2 elites tops. Then run into the towers whose archers wont shoot at you while you cap their flag. From their,most of their npcs are safely 100+ yards behind you and won't defend their graveyard like the alliance npcs do. The only advantage I can think that the horde have over the alliance is Drek'Thar's 2 easily killed wolves.

Basically this is what it's like to do AV against alliance that have half a mind to defend.

Love all the QQ about how ally base is unfair and easier to defend. Keep it up.

Horde base is just as easy to defend. Just like you guys qqing about 1 frost mage being able to defend the bridge. First off that's bullshit and you all know it, lol. The bottleneck of the ramp leading up to the frostwolf towers is just as bad as the bridge and sometimes even worse because mages standing up on the frostwolf towers can hit that ramp with blizzard from up on the tower. At least at the ally bridge they have to be out on the ground/bridge to defend it, they cant spam freely from the tower top like horde ranged does at frostwolf towers.

The real problem and reason you guys lose is you almost never have any defense. Of course ally is going to roll right through your base. I've seen some epic horde turtles in AV before that no ally group could of busted through standing on that ramp leading up to the towers. Couple shamans dropping earthbind totems and spamming chain lighting with frost mages up in the towers spamming blizzard.. just as hard to get through as ally bridge. At ally base only the archers in the north bunker can shoot at the bridge from that distance. At horde base you have 2 towers of archers hitting you going up the ramp. I never once seen horde win an AV in retail by using a "backdoor", so it shouldn't be a viable strategy here. The only thing I knew about when i played horde in retail was horde mages could blink up a part of the hill behind the south baldar bunker near the stables to sneak in to the stormpike base and ninja cap tower flags so their team could rush across the bridge easier.

TLDR - Less QQ, less blaming gms for being ally favorites, less blaming the layout of AV for poor play. Stop being bad.

i just need 3-4 allies defending the aid station flag and I will be able to peel the majority keyplayers of a horde backdoor rush so that theyre low health enough for any L53-60 to kill off once they get away from the ramkeeper.

On top of all that, instead of putting mines at backdoor so horde can never win (Nost devs play alliance or something? starting to look like Feenix...) how about we fix the 2 minute respawn on elites so the battleground actually works as it was supposed to?
Or, at least take out all combat NPCs, let players defend the flags, that would actually make it a fun BG.
