A rogue vs warrior fight for exemple, basic the fight is about the rogue using stun+blind+etc to avoid the war hit him, if damage is crap the cc ends and the war can fight back and win, if the damage is a lot higher the rogue kill the warrior before the rogue lose control and have no more cds to avoid getting hit.
Gear dont increase in health the same way it increase in damage, this make cc a lot stronger, healing harder and so on, some classes want a long fight, other dont.
On a duel with top gear a rogue rape u before u get to react, with shit gear u got a long time to kite,fear,slow,get way,wait he get without cds and win, i think the tier list changes a lot from blue gear to tier 3.
And dont forget about pets, the better the gear gets the easier is to kill the pet and the lower is the pet damage, things like that can make a huge diference.
