Just a small example...
I saw stacks of Copper Bars going for 1-2g a stack most of the time, definitely no lower than 5 silver per bar.
In the past 2 days that has dropped down to 50-60s a stack.
Wool Cloth was about 40-50s a stack, and now is going for about 30-35s per stack.
This is in literally the past 72 hours, whereas the previous week everything was pretty stable according to my data.
They're smart little bastards on the auction house too, if you look at their spammed low price items, they always intentionally list a few items super high to fuck with others using Auctioneer so that people buy their stuff quicker hoping to flip and get a quick resale, not realizing the Chinese are fucking with the median.
Economy on the AH is utter shit right now. It was absolutely fine for an entire week until about Wednesday or so.
Let's be cool about this.
Server instability and no communication skills are problems. Your ability to make money off the AH is not.
I love how that dude just discovered that prices of goods fluctuate (shocking - after all he always pays the same amount when buying candy with his lunch money) and immediately blames it on the chinese.arOo wrote:Trashing people because you can't understand them, only showcases your own ignorance.
My take on this has been pretty simple since the server got released:
Cap the servers @5k Population, open up another PvP Server(on the same timeline) with a transfer option.
- Make Battlegrounds Crossserver (and fix it to Blizzlike w/o Multiq)
Nostalrius Managament has stated (see recent AMA) that the massive population shouldn't be detrimental to the game experience. I say: Noble intent, but far away from reality.
Especially as a PvP player the server is absolutely horrific during peak times.
- which is almost 24/7 - because the server severly cuts down in performance with >5000 players online.
We all love the massive population here, because a MMO is kept alive by it.
However the numbers that we have now simply can't be supported in the current state of the server.
This has been the issue for me since the day the server got released.
I keep playing here, because my friends play here, certainly not for the quality that I have been getting.
PvP on Nostalrius is tremendously cancerous compared to what i've seen on other projects.
Since they haven't adressed the topic yet I expect Nostalrius will choose another option than my (relatively easy to do) take on it:
What we will see in the future is much more zoning, to keep performance on a playable level. (From a devs PoV this is a nightmare) Vanilla (Mangos) isn't capsuled well in that regards.
It's not a fun job hence I don't see anyone doing it efficiently w/o getting a good payment for it.
I don't know how much Nostalrius can improve in terms of hardware, but I'm guessing the next hardware upgrade will be a costy one too.
All that aside, my only request from the Nostalrius team right now is this:
Acknowledge the state of the server and tell us where you plan to take it, even if it takes another round of donations.
Possibly the first reasonable post in this thread. As for the hardware upgrade, thankfully we got heroes like Niko willing to donate 500 euros and make sure everyone knows it!
The economy is fluctuating as the influx of current Chinese players come in and crowd everything as they are leveling. I don't care about making money, I buy mats for my alts so I actually appreciate the cheaper prices at hand. But then, every time I buy an item and realize I bought it from Xiaozhing I realize I've just contributed to the problem.
Right now, the majority of them are still leveling, and not at 60. The AH is the your typical chinese farmer's way of generating more gold to sell, if they are a gold farmer.

There's a reason this is becoming an issue.
It isn't just Chinese people who don't speak English. It's a bunch of farmers, and they are more than likely making plenty of money from people who quit retail but don't feel like farming a bunch of gold themselves.
We are as much part of the problem as the Chinese are themselves. They need their own server, bottom line. The more money we give them, the more they will come here. If they are actual Chinese players just wanting to have fun, they deserve that right, but it can't be here because I don't enjoy joining WSGs just to watch a bunch of Chinese players sit in front of the tunnel entrance spamming blank text to each other while I'm the only one attempting to grab the flag.
