Nostalrius Begins - Quality wow vanilla realm (1.12)

Hello there,
So, for the first time ever i decided to make an infamous rogue and am having a blast so far. But i'm having a hard time against frost mages because i can't really get near them after my opening. How can i mitigate this problem?

I'm mid 30's now btw.

At that level you can one shot them with ambush if you have decent daggers and sub spec, also if you're leveling as combat with improved sprint then you'll fuck up low level mages for sure

Other than that, you won't beat mages in any kind of PvE spec and not before 60

It's a CD duel. You'll need to blow 5 mins CD to counter a frost nova or a blink. Then there's iceblock (x2). Being sub and having preparation up is good if you want to stand a chance.
Having vanish + blind + improved sprint is usually not enough if the mage is decent and has CDs.
Engineering can help. Have your pvp trinket equipped also.

Other than that, ambush crit on a mage with slow reaction time (prefer when he's drinking) is the way to go.
