"Will this person heal me?" An in depth guide to horde pvp!

Greetings fellow members of the horde!

I'm sure you have had your run-ins with dying and death and the like, but how many of those situations could of been prevented with the simple click of a button?

This guide lists the different kind of "healers" on horde side, as well as the chance of you receiving a heal from them, as well as other useful information documented on the experiences of yours truly!

I hope you find this read both enlightening, and informing!


Priest

Holy: This priest genuinely cares about your well being, and will follow you around, hoping to be of use as your personal healing friend. Most holy priests dont last long in pvp, as they tend to be inexperienced to the pvp scene, and explode instantly in every fight, normally resulting in quitting all together, or a respec.

Healing score: 4/10
Will this person heal me?: Until they die trying


Shadow: This priest has determined that your existence isnt quite as important as putting DoTs on people. While this can be true in many situations, there are many MANY situations where keeping your team alive would be a much more tactical decision. Running a flag in a win or lose situation? Expecting a heal, or maybe even a pity dispel? Keep dreaming buddy. If you think this shadowy distributor of pain is going to spend 1k mana to drop shadowform and cast anything remotely helpful on you, you may as well go play the lottery.

Healing score: 2/10 (they get one point due to them unintentionally healing their allies with vamp touch!)

Disc: The gem in the rough, the light at the end of the proverbial tunnel, the few, the proud, the disc priests.
They may have started shadow, they may have tried holy, but they turned to the ever omnipotent disc spec in the end. Sporting more utility than both specs, survive-ability, and a player base that is ready to heal the wounded and cure cancer, the disc priest crew is a rare breed on the horde and a much welcome sight to any 9 man team of rogues mages and warriors. Expect superb heals with clutch dispels from these bad lads.

Druid

Balance: The fabled boomkin. No one has actually provided documented proof of their existence and therefore go under the same classification as bigfoot, nessie, and the like.

Resto: The lesbian sister of disc priests, resto druids know their duty, and they do everything in their power to do it well. They also offer a few unique quirks, like being able to stealth, offering surprise heals the enemy doesnt see coming, and rooting enemy players. Not quite as effective as a priest, but still a welcome sight in any horde BG team. And you dont have to worry about two druids knocking eachothers HoTs off, because good luck having two healers on your team at any given time!

Feral: If the thought even enters the farthest reaches of your mind for the slightest fragment of a milisecond that this beautiful bastard is going to drop his kitty combo points and toss you even an instant, low mana cost healing spell to win the game not only for you, or himself, but for his entire team, then you may as well put a pencil sharp side up on your desk and slam your head on it as hard as you can, because you have a better chance of getting struck twice by lightning while sky diving while getting mauled by a tiger.

Will this person heal me?: Is it really fair to the human gene pool to call them people?



Shaman

Elemental: A mixed bag of goodies, the typical ele shaman is an uncommon yet welcome sight. They offer respectable ranged damage, a variety of utility, and most of them are courteous enough to take advantage of their acceptable healing power. A rare breed (anything thats not a rogue warrior or mage on horde side), and more times than not, a great boon to their team, the ele shaman offers unique support that any team should be thankful for.

Will this person heal me?: More likely than not, if he can find time in between his busy schedule of smiting creepy ass gnomes with the power of Zeus (Seriously, of all the races, you pick fetal alcohol verne troyer? LOL).


Enhancement: Oh boy, here we go. The fucker who jacked all of the warrior and hunter gear is now running wild through your BG dying repeatedly to people with actual specs. "ITS OKAY I SAW THE UNBREAKABLE VIDEO WE GOT THIS" No, mister shaman, we really dont. Not only is this person a waste of a slot offensively, good luck convincing them to do something productive, like, you know, use their heal buttons on actual pvp dps.

Resto: The successful business owning brother of disc priests. Resto shamans pack fucking heat, and they know how to use it. These beautiful bastards will stop at nothing to make sure their allies are healed. The resto shaman playerbase is usually skilled and more than willing to do what it takes to make sure that flag makes it home, or that stables flag gets captured. Right along side the disc priest, resto shamans hold a place of honor and respect on horde BG teams.

In group PvP scenarios enh shamans ARE a waste. T

Dps assists each other in group pvp. If thats shadow priest, feral druid, enhance/elemental shaman, boom chicken, or ret paladin then so be it. Being a hybrid spec means you have to be utility and fill certain roles on the fly. When I'm doing bg I will spot heal whoever I can, and drop totems as needed for those around me. I imagine your idea of group pvp consists of 2 ms warriors, 3 healers (pref pallies), and then any combination of mages, rogue, lock, and then screw everyone else because it doesn't suite your needs? I think the point that needs to be made here is, if you want heals in your bgs that damn badly go roll a healer. Don't roll a faceroll class and then come on the forums complaining about how bad other classes/specs are because you aren't getting healed enough in pug bgs. Sure, enhancement is terrible to play but I love playing it.

A lot of the reason why an enhancement shaman or feral druid won't heal you is because of mana. Enhancement shamans actually burn through mana really fast while fighting, and it's likely that a lot of their gear isn't conducive to a huge mana pool. So unless they're certain that you can use their time and mana more efficiently than they could, they're likely to just keep fighting. If you're getting wailed on by like 3 guys or something, then what's probably going to happen if the enh shaman tries to heal you, is he's going to spend his whole mana pool spamming his weak tit heals on you, you're going to die anyway, and then he's going to be stuck fighting those 3 guys without any mana.

A feral druid also usually has a low mana pool, and shifting is quite expensive.

Also, since these are both melee fighters, they're less likely to actually notice that you need heals. If they're busy chasing somebody around and trying to fight them, then it's not likely that they will notice that you're getting owned somewhere behind them. The ranged specs get to stand back and have a bit better field of view, and they don't have to keep their eyes glued to their opponents quite as fiercely. Also, the melee specs probably won't have any talents that keep them from losing cast time while getting hit, so if they're in the middle of a fight, it's really difficult to heal you anyway.

I'm not arguing that druids should be specced feral or that shamans should be specced enhancement. Just saying that if they happen to be specced that way, the reason they aren't healing you isn't necessarily because they're stupid a-holes.
