Arathi Basin: Warchief of the Hill
This battleground is nothing like Warsong Gulch. The music is much worse, and the bases are very imbalanced. The Horde starts off with a farm for food while the Alliance is forced to survive on nothing but horse meat, which anyone will tell you is bad for morale. There are three other bases: The Mine, The Blacksmith, and The Lumber Mill. Try to avoid taking the Lumber Mill if you can, as I’ve noticed that defending it tends to have an odd psychological effect on people where they keep talking about themselves. For example, people will say “Im 12,” or “Im safe,” or “Im flag” (which is a derogatory word for homosexuals).
Unlike Warsong Gulch, most of the action here happens away from the actual bases. All Alliance players should stay on the road, both to make your defense more adaptable and to keep the Horde guessing about where you’ll go next. For example, if my team has the Stables and the Mine, and eleven Undead Rogues show up at the Stables, I can get to there much faster from the middle than if I was all the way down in the Mine. The only exception to this rule is that you should keep one person standing right next to the flag so that if they get sapped, the Undead Rouge will be much closer to the flag and thus will have to unstealth much, much faster.
The best way to ensure you finish this battleground quickly and get your AB mark as soon as possible is to follow this plan:
Horde assaults Farm >>> Alliance assaults ST
Horde assaults LM >>> Alliance sends a group to BS
Horde assaults BS >>> Alliance BS group resurrects at Stables
Horde assaults Mine >>> Alliance sends a group to Mine anyway
Horde assaults ST >>> Alliance Mine group resurrects at Trollbane Hall
Horde zergs Trollbane >>> Viorin the feral druid ninjas LM
Horde defends LM >>> Alliance forces discuss politics behind Trollbane Hall
If you followed these steps, you will get a mark every five minutes or so, which should be sufficient honor to get you to rank 9 in a few weeks. At that point you can join premades, which follow strategies so complex and nuanced that I couldn’t even begin to explain them here.
DISCLAIMER: This "guide" was written as a joke, and is not a veiled attempt at criticizing the skill or intelligence of any Alliance players. Due to the ability of premades to dodge premades of the opposing faction, the majority of 5-cap AB or 3-0 WSG games are the result of premade-vs-pug matchups. Both sides see their fair share of success and failure in BGs, and should hesitate to jump to conclusions that their faction is inferior or plagued with talentless hacks.
