Maybe he wanted to complete that AB quest that asks you to cap each of the 5 nodes? Without context beyond that screenshot, we can't say exactly that his motives are to let Alliance win.

He didn't say "let him cap it" he said "let him" and then a couple lines later "cap it." May have been two completely separate thoughts.

Or maybe it was pointless at that moment, and made more sense to abandon one hopeless fight to go on to the next objective that still had a prayer of being obtained? Those decisions do happen.
