PVP ranking - The grind?

Hi there.

I've not been able to engage anyone in-game in a constructive conversation, lasting longer than 30 seconds, about what kind of 'grind' you're facing if you want to rank up in PVP on this server. So yeah, compared to a very active vanilla server, how bad is the grind here, if I'm aiming for, say, rank 10?

How far will face-rolling Alterac Valley get me?

Am I looking at grinding 12 hours a day if I want anything close to (or higher) than rank 10?

Or perhaps AB/WSG premades are the (only?) way to go?

Can anyone shed some light?

You can go r13 playing 12h a day I'd say, r13-14 is basically no sleep no life mode though.

You can save yourself a ton of time if your faction is able to play as a premade however.
This server has "Improved matchmaking"

Can get r10 without trying too hard / premading. Will take a while, of course, but no nolifing required.

Depends alliance or horde.

I play Horde so I can share my experience: You can easily get into top br3 / br2 with 3-4 hours of pugging wsg/ab a day.
And the decay at r12 0% is 11k RP.
So being in BR2 each week assures you to have 11k to 12k RP, which is enough to reach (slowly) R12.
Br2 is top 70 standing, so check on realmplayers how much honnor you'd need. Maybe playing only AV won't get you as much honnor as playing wsg/ab.

Then for reaching R10 you only need lower Br4
To reach R11 you only need lower br3 (up to st100).

Basicly, you can get R10-11-12 without playing a lot each week. But it will take a lot of weeks.

Then for R13, you really need to take some weeks off and play all day. You'll need at least top br2 if not br1.
If you look at realm player, it was 750k / 600k for last week.

As alliance, it may be different. Lower pop, so less spot in br2/br3. They also premade a lot more, so as pugger you don't necesserly have an easy spot in those. But if you premade, you shouldn't need more time than a horde pugger.

regardless of what state queues are in (because that seems to be constantly changing here) you are basically looking at this:

reaching rank 10 can be done quickly by playing a ton, or slowly by playing a normal/healthy/casual amount over a period of months. once you are rank 10-11, things get considerably more difficult. reaching rank 12 is possible playing 6-10 hours per day, but it will be a long slow grind this way.

rank 13 is only reached with at least 4-5 weeks of playing 16+ hours per day. to achieve rank 13 (and certainly rank 14) you need a solid chunk of time that you have zero IRL responsibilities and can play the game basically every hour that you're awake.

so, there are different ways to go about the grind. I myself did it very slow/casual up to rank 10 and then went full no-life mode for 5 weeks (this was with a Premade though, before Nostalrius began tampering w/ queues). but the 1 fact is that reaching 13/14 requires at least a few weeks of eat, sleep, play lifestyle

Anyone have any sensible predictions for how this will be on the PvE realm?

It's looking like the population will be 55-45 A-H, and we can reasonably assume that the PvE realm's horde population will have somewhat less emphasis on PvP than on Nost1.0, though quite possibly still more than the alliance side. So with a smaller horde population, should queue times be more even?

you can easily get r10 just by casually getting 100-150k a week

The population will most likely be way lower with brackets having way less spot. The rankers going hard will take more of the good spots avaiable and reaching r11-12 should be harder than it is on the pvp server.
For the lower and higher rank it will be about the same than here.
