Playing melee @east cost US: worth it?

Playing melee @east cost US: worth it?

by thugnif » Fri Nov 13, 2015 9:56 am

Since the server is located overseas, I'm wondering if playing melee where I'm playing from would be an issue in PvP. Am I better off rolling a caster?

Thanks

its not too shitty, unless you want to play a dagger rogue (impossible for NA/Aus players) but in general, a caster would probably be more favorable.

It's gotten much better than it use to be. I usually have anywhere from 80-110 ping, which is about what I had on retail and I played fine there.

I'm not sure but lag and bugs you have to just get used to. Being a lock I see the same bug that drives me nuts. I'll fear someone and they'll run out of range of a shadowbolt, so I'll run up to range, start casting and the fear will break and they'll be standing right next to me instantly. I see it happen with other CC effects too and its really annoying. Great for the melee who I feared though, not great for casters. I'm on the east coast.

I've played warrior and rogue from both when i was in eastern US (100ish ms) and northern europe (40ish), never really had any issues with position recognition even in PvP with dagger spec. So i'd say you're safe to play what ever you want as long as you have a decent connection.
Even then you can just try and if you feel it doesnt work it doesnt take that long to catch up.

This server has the best ping I've ever seen on any wow server. I play west coast and I get 150 ping.
That is a completely stable and adequate ping. I imagine being 2k miles closer you'd get a better ping. I played on retail on east coast server and got a 110 ping or so for years.

If you really must get a lower ping you can get a slight decrease using Ping zapper, it supports EU servers. Its also cheap, 17 USD for 6 months total.

Why stop at Rank 12 you ask? I ask myself that all the time!
