The entire problem can be traced back to Horde queueing in far greater numbers than alliance.
This leads to Horde premades waiting an unreasonable amount of time to get into a premade game.
This leads to Horde premades disbanding because pug honor is faster.
This leads to only Allies having premades and they begin stomping pugs.
This leads to the good Ally players all going premade for the fastest honor.
This leads to Ally pugs being left with less good players vs Horde pugs which still have their good players.
This leads to Horde pugs generally coming out on top vs Ally pugs and often times stomping them.
So we end up with:
multiple Ally premades stomping Horde pugs for quick 5-0 wins
Twice as many Horde pugs waiting in queue for a 50/50 chance of either facing the above, or having a moderate to great advantage against an Ally pug. Losses still happen though, often enough.
I can't see this system being optimal for either side in terms of fun and challenge, and it'll probably get worse.
IMO the absolute best fix is to limit "queue as group" to 5 or less. Some pug randomness is great for fun in any game, and 5 people working together can definitely swing the outcome in AB and especially in WSG. Get rid of the 1.2 million honor/week premades who never actually fight anyone and just carry each other to free gear.
