If i have to take a week off from my rank grind, it is better to get the 25 kills and get placed in standing or to not get placed at all? Which would hurt me more is what i'm trying to figure out

Not getting ranked at all would hurt much, but it would just be a liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitle bit better to be ranked with only a few HKs anyway.
