How do dishonorable kills actually work?

Some genius in my group decided to kill a civilian today, and I received a dishonorable kill.

I have plans to rank up once I get to 60. My friend said DK's affect your honor negatively forever, others say it only affects the current week. TLDR: I'm getting mixed answers from everyone.

SO I ask, how do dishonorable actually affect your rank ups. Also, link sources if you have them!

A DK causes an immediate reduction of your current rank by ~2%.

The fact you've killed a civilian is forever written in your honor window, but won't have any other affect on your rank.

So theres no recurring penalty outside of the immediate damage it does?


Also, what a shitty feature... I really wish the dev team would just remove it, as it serves no purpose outside of punishing people who care about their pvp rank. Its not like people who don't care about pvp rank are going to not kill your quest npc because of the threat of a DK or anything.
