From Patch 1.9.3 Notes (7 February 2006)

The Engineering schematic for the Tranquil Mechanical Yeti now requires a Cured Rugged Hide rather than Ice Thistle E'ko so that both Horde and Alliance Engineers can make the recipe.

This means, they are Horde only even after AQ.

It is a bug, +30 str is not minor. I will answer with your own words:

The strength Juju does not stack with Giants, so it's effectively only a 5 str increase. However, the AP Juju does stack with Firewater.
