Generally, population on private servers is more like 55% / 45% nowadays. For 26/04 (yesterday), we personally never saw a balance that near of 50/50 : only a ~150 player difference for ~6400 online players.

Or you could just /who at just about any time of the day when europeans are playing.

When it comes to vanilla people prefer you to actually know how to play your class instead of grinding out a couple levels. I'm so glad it takes forever to level. When you're new to the server and you see a lvl 60 and you know that mofo has put in some hard work. On retail when you hit max level you're just another player.

I understand its a blizz like server that doesn't make special non blizz like things, but hey look multiboxing isn't allowed( it was allowed during vanilla http://www.engadget.com/2006/12/15/inte ... -ten-arms/ ) or leveling up multiple toons w/ follow isn't allowed either( it was allowed during vanilla)

idk make it promotional or something..for a limited time only thing or a one time event...or one free lvl 40 per IP..idk

I'm a cata baby too, but that's no reason to want a handout on what is arguably the best populated vanilla server.

A forum user named Noxm ran a population census multiple times, and on peak times it's always near 6k, and near 3k at off-times (Euros are sleeping).

Or just type in "/who" in the game

Can I also add that if all you can think about is reaching high level then you're missing a lot of the fun. Nostalrius is full of people to group with and fight against at all levels, and has fun stuff all the way through (except perhaps between 40 and 50). This isn't an empty world retail server. Enjoy it.

Blizzard allowed it because they were getting 15 dollars for each one of those accounts online every month.

If you came to a 1x vanilla blizzlike server looking for instant 40/50/60 or upgraded exp rates you came to the wrong place.
