I think they should do that in first priority, but not meaning they will never do something about "exploit" as u said.
For me an exploit is a non legit way to do something (in game or elsewhere..)
Using correctly his class and make gold by dint of that it's not an exploit for me, i take a simple example : hunter use FD for passing some group of mobs instead of kill / trying to kill them. Is it an exploit ? if you think it is, why just not remove fd from hunt so.. this is ridiculous

and same thing for a lot of class skills. or class duo / trio... And in same time u can remove high gear stuffs, coz with that u will able to make some great things. ridiculous again..
You should not confound "exploit" and "game mechanism" that's all i say

About inflation : ex: probably they should put respawn rate of herbs depending on the population on this server or making something like that. 100gold for a flask is a total nonsense and i never saw that on a full server 10y ago.
But all this is total off topic.
My last words are : Maybe decrease de gold requirement for respe is a good way for ppl to use a good spe for farming instead of using kinds of exploit or game mechanism to making gold because they need 50Gold each time they want going farm. A lot of players just want play with fun, and without gold in wow it's not fun. Dont forget, it's a game, game made for fun

Just let these things as blizzlike they was and that's all.
Also this server is completly full of population (good and bad ppl) i can understand it's not easy for dev/admins to find a good solution about all these problems. But they probably be more blizzlike spirit instead of trying to much things.
