Don't care which country people play from but at the moment there is way too many people playing on the server. Please set up another pvp server so we can avoid the lag in primetime :(

Thing is a large part of the chinese population will be trying to financially gain from this server and they wouldn't leave to an asian one. Not in a million years.

This can be seen on the number of chinese accounts permbanned for gold trafficking, botting and abusing.

Yet to provide the proof that a larger % portion of *insert whatever gold trafficking, afking, being a dick accusation here* are Asians rather than european/us

Well, there's of course that part of the US/EU as well and I know quite a few.
They at least integrate and know how to communicate with the rest of the population, but being a naive person and not have insight in this I'm sure whiteknighting the forums with the result of the demise of nostalrius as we know it is the way to go. The chinese population is increasing by the week and until people know how a large part of their well organized private realm community works, the realm will be seeing alot of uphill and crawling on it's knees for the future.

There's a pretty valid reason why this topic was discussed actively amongst playerbase and devs over on Corecraft forums, of banning the chinese. It's what has happened to all private realms since 2013 when the gaming industry lobbied in enforced laws against online piracy in China (pretty sure it was 2013 at least).

It's illegal in China to play piracy copies of games, even this one. Way different laws and restrictions over there compared to the rest of the world, particularly europe and even america that already has very high restrictions. You can get serious fines and even do jailtime for getting caught in China. Not to mention, the illegal connections of avoiding national internet filters through VPNs. I'm pretty sure a petition to the government of China would stir something up if you point out the undeclared and non-taxed profits their citizens are making.

I'm not saying Nostalrius should permban them, but at least limit the playerbase somehow. We can't even find mailbox or NPCS in Thunder Bluff at this hour, not to mention Orgrimmar and the overall three second delay.

I like the suggestion of blanket-banning game clients which use non-Latin character sets. It's the only reliable method anyway, as has been pointed out time and time again IP range bans would be ineffective as most of the Chinese players connect through VPNs which resolve to somewhere in Europe or America due to the CCP's internet censorship. It also means that players who are able to understand English and are willing to interact with the rest of the community can just download the English language client from the Nostalrius main page and continue playing as they were. That's only a bandage fix though, what will be needed in the end is another PvP server. But such a bandage fix could buy the time needed for the admins to solicit donations and gather the necessary hardware resources to open another server.

I for one am tired of being ignored by the staff except to be shouted down and called a racist shitlord merely for asking them to enforce the rules of the server.

There is no rule against using a non English client though. It has been stated multiple times by the staff.
Plus there are plenty of non Chinese that use non English clients.

There is a rule however against using languages other than English in official server chat channels (so general, world, trade, etc; but not guild, party, whisper, etc). And players using character sets other than Latin are the majority of those breaking this rule, whether they are Chinese or not. It shouldn't prove an issue as I said to players who are able to understand basic English and who are willing to interact with the rest of the community, they can simply download an English client (which are plentiful and easy to find, there is even a download link to one on the Nostalrius front page, under "Getting Started") and continue playing.

Plenty of people on this server (even a majority I would wager) speak English non-natively, including most of the staff, who are French, yet they don't have trouble following the "English only" rule. I don't see any reason to make exceptions for one or two specific groups.

Also: even if they do manage to get the server stable at the current population, which I won't say is unlikely because they've done a great job at it so far, there comes a point where there are simply too many players online to have any fun or get anything done. Imagine trying to do the hunter leaf quest or farm blood of heroes or even just level an alt in contested territory once the server population reaches 15k, 20k, or even higher. It's undoable, and it forces the server staff into an awkward situation where non-Blizzlike custom fixes are needed to accommodate the non-Blizzlike population on a server that prides itself on being as Blizzlike as possible.

I'm not arguing your point about the language barrier, or that speaking non english public channels is against the rules. All I was saying is that tracking people and banning them based on whether or not they have a non English client would be contrary to what the staff has already stated is allowable. In other words, it's not an option, unless the staff decides to totally backtrack on their stance regarding non English clients.
As a GM has already posted in this thread, if you see people using public channels in anythjng other than English, you should report it. Let the staff handle that part of it. Saying over and over on the forums that it's happening doesn't help anyone.
