Improving Battlegrounds by Disabling Multi-Que

Currently, top standings are being set in the neighborhood of ~1,300,000 honor. These honor totals are roughly double the amount of honor players collected during vanilla retail, as well as on other private vanilla realms. This ridiculous amount of honor is collected because Nostalrius allows premade groups to very effectively dodge playing against other premades.

The Problem

Because the quantity of rank points you earn every week largely depends on where standing 1 is set, these absurd honor totals make ranking significantly more difficult for the huge number of players who want to PVP, but aren't a part of organized farming. This ensures that players who PUG are subjected to far more unplayable games and losses, due to having fewer opportunities to play against other PUG teams. It also contributes to the large pool of players who feel compelled to AFK in battlegrounds. Any semblance of competitive play is also lost, as groups are forced to dodge each-other to pursue maximum honor farm. In short, it makes the game less playable for most players.

The Solution

The first step is fixing the bug that allows players to log out in a battleground and return 2 minutes later without a deserter debuff. The deserter debuff was made by Blizzard specifically to combat the problem of players dodging battleground matches, but it does not work while this bug still exists.

The second step is to disable multi-queue, which is the capacity to queue for several battlegrounds at once. This will prevent premades from sending a single person into a match to 'scout' whether or not they're facing another team.

This is unlikely to be a popular suggestion among the ~100 players who enjoy manipulating the system to farm absurd honor totals each week. Nevertheless, I believe this solution would be beneficial to the majority of players in creating a more competitive and fair PVP environment.

Ain't you the rogue I always see AFKing in battlegrounds?
We should improve battlegrounds by banning AFKers like you :D

Before this thread gets hit with a chorus of "just join a premade", it should be pointed out that:

* This solution increases competitive play for the realm, up from the 0% we currently have with all the dodging.
* Fewer empty BG games (3v8) because players unable to abandon current battleground for different one.
* Some players prefer to PUG, but can't rank doing so.
* Many players have a very difficult time joining organized play. (limited availability, language barriers, disabilities, less desirable classes, lower skill, undergeared, etc.)

From these forum posts i get the feels that we have 30 active alliance pvpers and 3000 horde...
There are no pugs without fresh 60s... and there are no fresh 60s without lvling... to the bug fixes yes.
but disable multique? what would change but even less bgs for the 3000 of u

I like the pug weekend idea more. It's a compromise between premades, and non premades. The current layout is very unhealthy. It's a private server after all. The server is already unblizzlike. People can buy rank 14 weapons now, or rank 12/13 gear when they drop ranks, so they can buy the new gear immediately when the new upgraded tier comes out. So don't give me the 'Blizzlike' arguement because now PvPers dodge farming a new 'tier' of gear to get from PvPing... they add in unblizzlike ideas to appease the 1% top premades.

the problem is this server has too low population to support premades

For what it's worth, Stormreaver US standing 1 was roughly that and sometimes a bit more.

The image that shows the problem best.

For lower players, you need 200k to get basically anything.

For higher players, there's essentially no difference between 230k and 600k (because distance from ST1 is all that matters for RP.) This exponential favoring of premades ensures if you're not part of a tiny select group of players, your ranking may literally be impossible, esp compared to how achievable those ranks were on vanilla retail realms.

Thank you for speaking out on the matter.
Clearly, some people would not like such changes to implemented.

Some people are full of s**t. : )

We need to setup as much a fair, and healthy PvP environment as possible for the sake of the entire community.
And for this I appreciate and value highly the fact that you brought this up, and made a valid point with a sensible reasoning behind it to open the eyes of those, who tend to see things differently.

Cheers
