NPC gossip cataloging

I have noticed throughout my time here that a number of NPCs provide the placeholder gossip "Greetings <player>" instead of what they are supposed to say. I opted to post this here instead of the bugtracker because I don't have sufficient information to be able to reliably deduce what every NPC should say.

The purpose of this post is to gauge interest in compiling a list with the appropriate dialogues for the NPCs in question, with a credible source provided, for each, and what the staff's stance is on correcting them. My efforts have been slowed by the fact that I can't find a reliable NPC gossip database online. I know that you can extract the old text from modern live WoW NPCs through a macro, but with the Cataclysm revamp a lot of them are missing or may say different things altogether.

This may seem trivial to most but it is a nice touch that adds to the immersion of the game imo.

Totally agree but as you already mentioned - lack of data. It'd be a very nice of devs to look into this once most class related issues are resolved.

I agree, it would be nice to fix the missing gossip texts. Any idea for resources that could still provide the missing data?

Best guess would be some comments or addons from those times...

True! Even doodads like crates and books when clicked says Greetings <player>!

Noticed also some humanoids (cant remember which) saying the gnolls phrase when pulled "More bones to gnaw on"

Here is an open doc that everyone can contribute to. I started it off with some easy, yet glaringly absent ones.
Please use the indicated format and cite a source. Use CTRL+F to check if the ID of the NPC you wanna add is already there.

Anyone interested in helping should undertake NPCs in a specific zone, cause this is a not-so-small task and needs to be coordinated.

If you still have a live WoW account and can't find an NPC in question you can use this addon to view their original gossip. This helps with NPCs that only have one option, since Blizz implemented lazypig-style autoprocessing in BC. Therefore dialogue extracted with this addon has not been altered since BC (as it was not meant to be viewed by default anyway).

I believe there have a been a few bug reports regarding this several times, I've even posted some for certain NPCs.

Interesting addon and hope they look at this one.

I'm pretty sure it's on their list but they prefer to fix more urgent bugs and issues first.
