I recently rerolled alliance and noticed we can't mail the opposite faction, but since there's no restriction on faction character creation, seems odd that there is one for Mail's.

You could'nt - and still can't (with BoA's as only exception) - mail other faction in Vanilla, so why would you expect to be able to do this here?

What this guy said, how does being able to make a horde and alliance character have anything to do with being able to mail eachother? Which, as s/he said, you still can't do even in retail right now with the exception of BOAs.

Ah my bad then, I though they changed that in retail when the char faction restriction was lifted.

Probably was my last private server that allow that and made me confused, sorry about mix up.

If you want to sent items between factions your only option would be Neutral AH in bootybay/Tanaris.
