Cheering for one server is good but lying about another is not.

well i didnt read fully into the kronos options,
but a character auction is clearly pay to win (to me) no thing to lie about that.
for one person it might seem pay to win, for another it may look different..

Minus the economic consequences, both of those options are the same thing. Someone who throws money at the server is given levels. Whether they already existed, or not, someone is buying a sizeable time advantage. The fact that this will exist on Kronos makes Nostalrius more appealing to me.

Where is the loyalty to a game if you can just get levels for money?

I have a feeling that while there will be lots of players on both servers, Kronos is going to kick itself for this decision as players will become disenfranchised by that, see it as unequal, and will move to Nost as there is equality. Unfortunately for Kronos, as players leave, more pay to win will happen, and the slippery slope will become a black hole.

This is obviously quite controversial topic. I have zero experience with private servers, and while I would theoretically prefer it to be blizzlike and ˝clean˝, how sustainable are absolutely free-to-play things? Can we count on good development and polish, quality PR stuff and so on in the long run (I am talking years from now) without any of us investing a single cent?

I believe this was discussed million times before, and I don´t want to sound as some kind of pay-to-win zealot, I am just curious about our future. Any thoughts?

If the server is as good as I am hoping, I plan on donating $15 a month. I expect nothing return, but they have hosting costs and I would be very happy supporting development and hosting to enjoy vanilla again.

Nostalrius can also work with ads to gain some revenue. This website shall have lots of traffic and I bet some people here can benefit from putting their companies/projects advertisements on this website.

Anyhow, I think there're many ways to have an income without destroying the ingame economy/experience. Hell, even T-shirts would sell
