Requesting some help with the dire maul testing

by Lazermon » Fri May 08, 2015 6:47 am

Hello random internet strangers, during our adventures in the PTR we hit a couple of things (bugs? stuff that is wrong?) that I while working on our reports had trouble with confirming (proving), and I figured you might be able to help out. Remember: what you know is far less worth than finding an actual source detailing how it was, be it through text or through video.

Gordok warlocks in Dire Maul North are casting banish (which is intended), and on the PTR it is marked as a "magic" spell, and dispellable (which we aren't sure should be possible).

Tendris Warpwood is enraging at low HP on the PTR (Is this an ability he has?).

Eldreth spectres are patrolling, making certain pulls pretty ridiculous. see
http://www.twitch.tv/fireheartgrizzly/b/656571041 (19:00-20:15 and 31:30-32:30)
Should they really be patrolling?

The spell Ribbon of Souls cast by Eldreth Spirits can hit you, damage you and still not put you into combat. Was this a thing in vanilla?

If you want to watch our complete testing of DM West, see: http://www.twitch.tv/fireheartgrizzly/b/656571041.

Thanks in advance if you find any hot and spicy evidence to solve these (possible) issues!

regarding the gordok warlock
as I read it, it should be dispellable.
I found 2 sources and this is the most detailed one:

That is likely how it is, but since your link details information taken from a source describing the spell in its current retail format, it's not 100% trustworthy. Naturally appreciate the digging though!

Earliest wowhead snapshot: 2010... Dispellable.

Earliest Alakhazam snapshot: 2008... Dispellable.

Unless we can grab a snapshot of an older version, it would be safe to assume the banish is dispellable.

I noticed that Tendris Warpwood was just standing there staring. He should move around a little bit.

Undispellable.

One off website, but times are right. Checked the wiki one, and referenced the items stats they were listing off (briefly), and they matched the wayback 2005 allahkhazam item stats. The post also touched very lightly on Tendris, but doesn't say he has an enrage, just an AoE root. Still not a reliable source for the boss mechs.

Kinda shows the Specters are patrolling, but not really in the spots you are asking about.

No clue yet of the ribbon thing.

Edit: Even whipped out my 2006 WoW Atlas book to lookup mob info. Sadly it has the mobs listed, but just location, and no info about instanced mob placement or actions. But hey, if you need info on things outside instances, I found my book.

Banish is technically dispellable (it's a magic effect), but you are immune to dispel magic while banished. This was the case in vanilla in DM, and remained the case through at least WotLK (my personal experience was that you couldn't dispel banish in arena).

This is my recollection as well having played a priest in Vanilla. The debuff would show as magic/dispellabe but it would pop up "immune" when trying to remove it.

Very nice find.

"Gordok Warlock lvl 55-60 - These ogres have doomguard pets that can be annoying. They also cast Curse of Tongues, Immolation, Shadow Bolt and Banish. Banish is undispellable so it can cause big problems sometimes."

You can't use that as a source. Look at the actual warlock spell Banish, and it also says dispellable, when it clearly isn't.
