I do not understand how you can think spell power somehow does a roll between 0-85 for a bonus.

Could you provide us with actual information Setup from where you are getting your numbers from?
These numbers are from retail 2006 which has been tried and true since then. Theorycraft addon is exactly for these coefficient numbers.

Data taken from TheoryCraft addon for version 1.12.1.

DoT longer than 15 sec is calculated as 15sec duration.
Channeled or cast spell longer than 3.5sec is calculated as 3.5 cast spell.
(see rules above for explanation)

These coefficients are before talents and gear improvements!
Example talent bonus:
Shadow Word: Pain - 18 / 3 = 6 ticks. 100% bonus, 6 ticks = 16.66%/tick
2/2 improved sw:pain = adds 2 ticks. Bonus is the same. 8 ticks = 16.66%/tick.
8 ticks > 6 ticks = more damage done.

Example talent bonus 2
Fireball = 3.5sec cast = 100% bonus.
5/5 Improved Fireball = 3.0sec cast. Bonus is the same. 100% bonus.
3.0 sec cast is faster than 3.5 sec cast = faster fireball cast = more damage done.

There are only 6 abilities that gain damage bonuses from your attack power. These are:

Ferocious Bite - 3% per combo point
Garrote - 18% - 3% per tick (6)
Rake - 6% - 2% per tick (3)
Rip - 24% - 4% per tick (6)
Rupture - 24% - amount per tick and number of ticks based on CP

Clearly not that knowledgeable, as the coefficients are based on untalented time / 15 for DoTs. I think I'll trust elitist jerks over wowwiki.

In vanilla, not all spells received 100% coefficient of spellpower. Some are more, or less than 100% even.

Thank you for the data list for theorycraft Keftenk.

As you guys can clearly test for yourselves the damage is off on Nostalrius. These have to be fixed but it is not the end of the world if it does not get fixed asap. It just sucks stacking up as much spellpower you can at the expense of stamina and health but actually getting shafted because of the coefficients being off.

Really though. If it's wrong, make a ticket on the bugtracker. It seems that's the best way to get things fixed quickly and correctly. They have an entire team that checks the validity of the tickets, doing their own research, etc.

They're definitely off, but I'm not interested in testing it on live servers and I don't have the 7 hours minimum required to apply for the testing team.

Why 522? Because you're getting UP TO 85 spell power per cast, meaning between 0 and 85, not a static 85. That means on average you're adding 42.5 to each cast. AKA working as intended.

Wrong, sit down and stop talking. You NEVER get the extra spellpower UP TO, the extra spellpower is added ALWAYS to the minimum base damage, and THE ONLY THING thats fluctuating is the base damage, period.

So a 455-507 bolt with 100 sp (85 final since its 85% at 3 sec cast untalented) is in fact a minimum 540 (455+85), with a maximum of 592 (507+85). Thats how it always was...
