Enjoy greens again.
Hope for world drops.
World drops become serious contenders for BiS slots again and the AH market will be boomin with 'em, and owning epic world drops will be a huge status boost.
Kinda feels good. But damn will the gear struggle be real for the first few months. But, I enjoy that kinda stuff. :p

To my knowledge Weapon Normalization will be still applied so items like Reaper/Barman aren't op.

I have seen quite some comments regarding dps output in this and other threads
Yes, you could mostlikely out dps all or most of them.
Also keep in mind that also in vanilla talents and ability's were tested throughly.
The reason why certain abilitys were not are not used alot. Plain and simple : aggro.

Aggro build up by tanks was not so solid as it is nowadays. You needed to take in mind the boss fight duration befre starting attacks as dps and also what attacks to revent imminent death and failure.
Repeating that will result in kick from raid and or guilds.
Dps has a high aggro build up and especially mages with fireball.

With introduction of the old item stats, introducing old vanilla trees would be the next logical step. Well, the problem is, they suck. And having no weapon normalization sucks. And yeah, these old items with agility on mage T1 suck big time too. Early vanilla was pretty damn horrible balance and itemization-wise, but if you decided to go into that direction, why stop so early? It's gonna be so much fun compared to the World of Spreadsheets we have now. And nothing forces you to hold off the "buff" patch until Naxx, you can just implement the old values on release as an experiment, a gimmick to attract more nostalgia-stricken players if you wish, and then restore the 1.10 talents after several months. Until then? I'm speccing into Throwing Weapon Specialization and there's nothing you can do to stop me.

Items are feasible because its minimal work and you can work on two parts at once (you can copy the update for the DB entry before doing the change, put it into a file for whichever patch (1.4 or 1.10 or whatever) it belongs to, and do the edit with very limited work).

Talents would require a core change, and would take a lot of work in comparison to item changes. Essentially months, and there would be compatibility issues--some people have had their trees changed significantly so if you do not switch clients (another huge huge undertaking) there would require "ghost" talents that do nothing for some classes, and most of the talents would have incorrect tool tips as those are hard coded into your client. Not to even mention the problems with talents that have more or less points to put in than they originally did. As neat as playing with old talents are, its really not feasible on a 1.12.1 server.

Not saying its not gonna happen, but its not gonna happen.

As it stands, talents are not in 100% working condition to begin with, and will take a non-trivial amount of work to get to that point.

I still don't understand why some people are so obsessed with "do EVERYTHING or NOTHING" - What's with this mindset. It's been said many times before that the amount of work required and core database rewriting just to change the talents would be way too much for the devs to even consider that.

Just take the item progression for what it is, and be happy with it. Let's say the realm goes live with the item progression, but talents are still 1.12.1 - Are you people gonna boycott the server just because "items are worse but the talents are the same, this sucks. If you're not gonna change everything, why even bother?"

It's like giving you free snack, but then you deny it and say "if you're gonna give me a snack, at least give me a dip as well. This snack sucks by itself."
I understand if you don't like the item progression.
I understand if you want more than just the item progression.
I understand if you're trying to argue legit points for why it should or shouldn't be.

But if you're just saying that it sucks because they're not making everything back to 2004 times - for something you're getting absolutely free from other people's hard work who get nothing in return.
I just don't get that.
