I believe ranged mobs should retreat out of melee range whenever their target is under the effect of a CC. I know mobs did this for roots, but I can't recall if they did this for all CCs. Ranged mobs, be it with guns or spells, should not stay in melee range when their target can't move. On Retail, they would retreat out your melee range, then attack you from a distance.

This isn't kiting btw. Kiting is when you're running away the entire fight, using speed on yourself or slow on your enemy to keep this distance. Mobs didn't do this. They just backed away from enemies under the effect of CCs, returning to a certain distance(20 yards?), before resuming attacking.

He's done with those and has been working on things that are publicly accessible because Kronos has an active section for bug reports on their website. He's also been much more active on the forums and can be reached on the IRC.

1 fix a week isn't a lot. I follow their bug tracker, and talk to some of their testers, and we're all aware none of what you're claiming is happening atm. He isn't active on the forum either, and what he does say isn't much, but maybe he is on their all-czech IRC.

Azalus wrote:Second, that post doesn't say anything about not working on major fixes, if anything it says that they have all of the major stuff done, so they don't have any major fixes left to do. TO BE CLEAR, that's referring to major fixes necessary to release, they'll still be actively working on AQ and Nax, and they have said on many occasions that they know their server will never be completely finished.

It's an assumption on my part that all of the major fixes aren't done considering that they have hundreds of unfixed bugs on their tracker, had announced previously that their reason for not developing the server was because their dev was absent, and then without developing it nearly at all, announced that it was almost prepared to reassure people.

Here are my personal reasons for selecting Nostalrius over Kronos:

I've actually been doing quite a bit on research of the two, and in the end, Nostalrius seems to be the better choice. First and foremost, you can find videos dating back to 2010 of bug fixes (in addition to their archived forums with thousands of fixes). You can find proof that the server has actually been in development for four years (and by the same developers -- that relates directly to the commitment and reliability of the staff here).

Secondly, the Team here is extremely promising. Unlike Kronos, they have more then 1 person chipping away at the project and they fix bugs and respond to the community extremely fast. When considering the size of their team, and the issues currently fixed, it seems as if its actually close to a release date. Not to mention the level of interaction and receptiveness of the Staff here is significantly better.

Third, Nostalrius falls more closely in-line with "Blizzlike". On Kronos, you can expect to see donation rewards (i.e. Vanity Pets, Mounts, etc.). They also allow account selling through their website. These two features alone should insinuate that their goal (whether primary or secondary) is to make money. These features also break the level of immersion and really give it that "private server" feel. These are two HUGE turn-offs for me. The last, major difference in that and blizzlike would be capped respec costs at 10g. Some are bigger issues than others, but all of this is an extremely slippery slope, so the introduction of these custom changes at all is cause for concern imho.

Overall, Kronos just reminds me of Feenix 2.0. They might have some good videos and a lot of hype, but they also have extremely unprofessional staff (seriously, read their forums for an hour) and some custom features that I'm not a fan of. Alternatively, I've actually tested Nostalrius on multiple different occasions, and the experience has been a better indication of quality than any Kronos video could be for me.

These were my original reasons for choosing Nostalrius over Kronos. Now with the introduction of pre-buffed gear, its only further tipped the scales in favor of Nostalrius for me. In my opinion, I believe this will create a unique blizzlike experience that is unparalleled.

In b4 the Defenders of Kronos: Some of these reasons are, without a doubt, just my personal opinion based of the impression I've got from the two servers. While some points are factual, others are not, and therefore aren't really up for debate.

Hopefully this huge wall of text was able to provide you with some useful information for those of you that find yourself stuck choosing between the two servers!

There have been 18 fixes in the last 2 weeks. That can be seen if you go to the change-log. Those include quest, general, mechanic, npc, spells, and items.

The testers are also claiming that a lot of the major issues showing up on the Nos tests are not, and have not, been issues on Kronos.

Chero himself has made 16 posts on the forum in the past two weeks, and on top of that they have opened up the AMA thread where people can come and ask questions that have been answered within 24 hours since the thread opened January 19th.

What else ya got?

https://vanilla-twinhead.twinstar.cz/?u ... _bugreport how many recent ones are now marked as fixed/need retesting, and aren't DB fixes that take a matter of minutes to seconds...?

and their only significant dev hasn't made a post in over a week.. or made a fix on anything in just like 5 days.

https://vanilla-twinhead.twinstar.cz/?i ... ply+filter

Let's see.. in the last week, the Booty Bay bruisers were made non-elite, not bad.. finishing touches.

You know, previous servers have done just fine with one super dev, but that place just isn't getting attention from what I see. A lot of things can make people jump ship from either of these places, but I see no reason to buying anything they're selling atm.

I've been pleasantly surprised by the test on Nostalrius this week end.

The pathing issues at the begining of the test were fixed quickly, and I haven't encountered major issues (except the fact that AOE spells with my mage in pvp won't hit most of time even if I'm really close to the enemy, this one is really critical).
I've still reported a shit ton of small glitches, and a few mobs were still going evade after the fix (ex: The girl with the emperor boss in BRD).
PVE scripts and events in dungeons overall seemed pretty accurate.

My main problems with Kronos are that it's developped by only one guy who's pretty young and probably hasn't played vanilla back then (that guy's just passed exam, he must be like between 18-25 yo aka between 8-15 years old during vanilla days), there is no public test available and it's probably further from release than Nostalrius.

Also the 10g respec and Character auction are disgusting things I wouldn't want on any server.
Still going to give Kronos a go whenever it's available.

Aside from all the rest, what leaves me away of Kronos is their total lack of communication. Corecraft is the same example. They post an update on their blog every two months. While here, we can see Viper posting updates very often. And I really appreciate that. Nostalrius is like my news blog I check every day :-)

I see also for myself all the advantages on the side of Nostalrius and i will probably play mainly on this server, but somehow i get the feeling, that Kronus will get more attention in the long run.
