How does this server even exist?

Professional developers who clearly know what they're doing and who are creating content and fixing bugs at a steady rate.
An administrative staff that is seemingly transparent and professional.
A server which can host 7000 players fairly stably, and yet which seemingly receives no outside funding. They don't have a shop, or a single ad on their website.
How is this even possible? What's the catch here?

Yeah I don't understand where their revenue stream comes from and how this server stays open/running. I understand they're all volunteering but I'd imagine the server itself is quite expensive to keep live.

My guess would be all the ads (susangame etc.) are keeping it alive. Idiots who buy there, a portion of it goes to Nost. You can't tell me nost isn't able to put these ads to rest, I'm sure they can.

whats the point in that? they could easily make a donations page and not have ingame ads. I'm sure a lot of people would donate atleast something, i would anyway.

Well they do seem to put an inordinate amount of time into preventing players gaining too much gold :p
